PENFIELD

PENFIELD
Penfield was established in Hudson, Massachusetts in 1975 by Harvey Gross. A pioneering figure in the American outerwear industry since the early 1960s, Gross recognised and championed the strength of insulated outerwear for its unrivalled ability to provide durable warmth and protection.

With only a few factories in the world capable of the special manufacturing process required to make insulated apparel, Gross decided to acquire a small manufacturing plant in Hudson with an old textile mill. It was here that he began to produce Penfield’s high quality outerwear garments. Over the years their reputation grew and grew until they became synonymous with outdoor life and whatever it may throw at you. Their use of the classic 60/40 outer layer being one such instance (60% cotton 40% nylon blend being an optimum blend of resilience, warmth and comfort).

Over the years, Penfield became one of the market leaders at producing high quality outerwear embodying the stylish ‘New England’ aesthetic. It was this style that helped to introduce the American outerwear look to an international market and in 1979 Penfield began exporting worldwide. Over the years to come Penfield's reputation  around the world expanded as people discovered what the outdoors people of the USA had found out years before, Penfield made goods that not only looked good but provided you with the protection you need when you needed it most.

Since then, high-profile collaborations, innovative fabric developments and a dedication to quality, practicality, durability, function and style have all caught the attention of wandering spirits all across the globe.

From the trail to the street, wherever wind blows and rain falls, Penfield is an icon of life in the open.
